The simple version
A call becomes a conversation.
The project is designed to make space for an ordinary, person-to-person chat—without giving either person the other’s phone number.
Before anyone calls
People who are in Poland will be able to volunteer through the companion app. During sign-up, the app will make a short automated call to check that a volunteer is comfortable holding a basic conversation in English. It is not an exam: plain, everyday English is enough.
Volunteers choose when they are available. Their personal telephone number is never given to callers, and callers’ numbers are not passed to volunteers.
When you call
Call the public number
Use the Polish number shown on the home page once the service opens. Your provider sets any calling charge.
Availability is checked
The system looks for a volunteer who is currently available. If nobody is free, a connection may not be possible at that moment.
A person is selected at random
An available volunteer is selected and the call is connected through the service, rather than directly between personal numbers.
You talk, then say goodbye
There is no script and no required length. Either person can end the call whenever they are ready.
Safety and recording
For safety reasons, calls may be recorded and retained for up to 90 days from the date they take place. The project will provide the relevant notice before a recording-capable call is connected. Recording is intended to help investigate safety concerns, not to make a public archive of conversations.
